Just across the street are the beaches of Biscayne Bay where watersports such as windsurfing and kite surfing are offered by local beach vendors, or you can fish from the old bridge which is now a fishing pier.  Also nearby, less than a mile away, is the Miami Seaquarium where you can take in the exciting shows and exhibits, or swim with the dolphins.  Crandon Park is just 3 miles away and offers a championship 18-hole golf course and the Crandon Tennis Center, home of the Sony Ericsson Open.  All the way at the end of the island, about 5 miles away, is the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park where you can enjoy the beach, fish from one of the many piers, picnic, walk along the many nature trails, ride bikes, rent a "bicycle for four", and take a tour of the historic lighthouse.
